A E Howell Wildlife Conservation Center Animals and Animal Care (A)

Agency Details:

[ View Opportunity ]
A E Howell Wildlife Conservation Center

Our mission is to rehabilitate injured wildlife and return them to their natural habitat.

Description:
Education is another focus of our organization. We would like future generations to be taught the basics of wildlife conservation and learn to appreciate what we have.

History:
Established in 1981, the A. E. Howell Wildlife Conservation Center and Spruce Acres Refuge has become one of Maine's finest wildlife rehabilitation centers. We are located on 64 acres on Lycette Road in North Amity, Maine.

Working closely with game wardens and other wildlife officials on both sides of the border, we have developed a reputation for handling some of nature's most difficult rehabilitation cases. Our goal is to rehabilitate injured wildlife and return them to their natural habitat. We are licensed by state and federal agencies for the care and release of wildlife. Certain animals cannot be rehabilitated and released due to serious injury or other factors so these animals become permanent residents of the refuge. We are certified by the USDA as a zoo.

We work to preserve Maine's natural resources and provide educational programs encouraging the practice of proper wildlife conservation, natural resource management and environmental protection.

A. E. Howell Wildlife Conservation Center, and Spruce Acres Refuge is a volunteer not-for-profit organization. We receive NO financial support from state or federal agencies. Memberships, donations and grants are our sole source of support. Your support is what keeps us going.

For the safety of human visitors and the residents of the center, dogs are not permitted
