Reading for the blind/visually impaired

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 6, 2009

We need volunteer readers who are comfortable in a broadcast studio reading live and recording daily and weekly newspapers and other materials for listeners with vision impairments. The information our listeners hear helps them maintain independence and to be informed about what is going on in their area. We are a statewide broadcast service, with listeners in York County, central and Eastern Maine and Aroostook County,

Readers should be able to read with intelligence and naturally, as though they are in a conversation with the listener. We prefer readers who are at least 16 years old, and enjoy participating in a cheerful environment.

This opportunity is sponsored by: Maine Audio Information and Reading Service
