Agency Details:

In 1999, the Neighborhood Resource Office, a non-profit organization, was opened to help provide resources and assistance to the neighborhoods. Neighborhood leaders can visit the Neighborhood Resource Office for help with newsletters, educational leadership classes, a computer lab and many other services.

The 52 neighborhood associations in the City of Des Moines currently meets once a month (with the exception of April and November/December) to serve as an information exchange and discussion forum for neighborhood leaders. Our meetings are open to the public.

History:
Over 20 years ago, a group of community leaders sought to organize an "umbrella" group for the existing neighborhood associations. A coalition of neighborhood groups in the City of Des Moines, was started and provided a forum for leaders to come together to address problems and find resolutions through discussion and advocacy.
