Quality of life at the end of life through compassionate care for all individuals and their families.
Description:
Hospice of Central Iowa is a nonprofit organization that works with people at the end of their life. Volunteers enhance the care we provide to our patients and families. Volunteers have a wide variety of opportunities to choose from. In addition to patient care in the patients' homes or the Kavanagh Houses you can also do non-patient related activities. Volunteers assist with office work, such as filing and answering the phone. There are also errands to be run, deliveries to make and people who need to be transported to their doctor. Our volunteers are involved in all aspects of our care of patients and their families. There are volunteer leadership opportunities through our Volunteer Council. This group drives the overall program. Volunteers are the heart of Hospice of Central Iowa and are very appreciated by staff, patients, and families. Think about joining a wonderful group of compassionate people.
History:
In 1978,a small, passionate group of volunteers founded Hospice of Central Iowa because they saw a need to provide a special type of care to people living with a life-limiting illness. We gradually grew into an agency that provides local care to patients and families in one third of the state of Iowa. Today Hospice of Central Iowa serves 34 counties. We provide physical, emotional, and spiritual care to hundreds of patients each year.
