IRIS-IA Radio Reading Info Service For The Blind

To enrich and enhance the lives of blind and print handicapped residents of Iowa by providing a free service that brings them timely and topical printed information by radio twenty four hours a day seven days a week.

Description:
Organization reads newspapers and other materials to blind and print handicapped over a special radio frequency. We have a delightful group of volunteers of all ages who read in 1 1/2 hour shifts. Times and amount of volunteer time is entirely up to our volunteers. Pre-tuned receivers are loaned to the blind and print handicapped around the state free of charge.
