Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on October 28, 2009

Currently the Museum needs friendly Information Desk Greeters/Museum Ambassadors during the weekends. The front desk volunteers provide an invaluable service to the Museum by maintaining a warm and welcome atmosphere for our guest visitors. You will greet people from all over the country and in fact, the world. You are their ambassador in making them welcome and answering questions. Museum Ambassadors provide information to visitors concerning the building, giving directions to other locations in Des Moines, general questions about exhibits, and maintain an accurate daily count of visitors. You are welcome to read, work on crafts and use your lap top while you are volunteering, as long as visitors are always first. This is a great opportunity for college students to volunteer in a museum setting or older volunteers to help in the community. You can work on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm or on Sundays from noon to 4:30 pm.

The Museum is open on the weekends, Saturday 9am/4:30pm and Sunday noon/ 4:30pm.

There will be an orientation. Knowledge of the Greater Des Moines Area is a big plus. You must enjoy working with the public and be out-going and friendly.
