Interfaith Ministries Of Denton, Inc.
Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Inc. seeks to provide emergency basic needs assistance to the people of northern Denton County with the goal of helping those people to become self-sufficient.
Description:
Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Inc. is a nonprofit, community based relief organization that has been providing temporary assistance to residents of Denton County since 1993. All services are unduplicated and are directed toward “Helping People Help Themselves”. Interfaith attempts to assist clients with utility and other energy bills, medical prescriptions, children's and adult eye glasses, transportation and other needs when funding is available. Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Inc. is a coalition of 24 area faith-based affiliates that have pooled financial (pledges) and human (volunteer) resources. Service delivery is funded by individual donations, the United Way of Denton County, by contributions from member churches and by grants. All services are coordinated with other agencies and organizations in Denton County to prevent duplication of service.
History:
Beginning in 1991, several area churches decided to come together to provide multiple services under one roof, preferably in a central (downtown) location. These churches pooled resources freeing their own church ministers/staff people from providing fragmented services. Interfaith was officially chartered by the State of Texas in October of 1993.

Interfaith Ministries is the absolute best place to volunteer at. I had to do it for a college course and I would do it again if I had the time. The staff at Interfaith are friendly, helpful, fun and they really do care about the community. Condell deserves so much for what she and her staff do. Thank you Sheryl, Bill, Condell, & Alicia for making my volunteer a truly rewarding experience I will always carry with me. posted by Sweetlilbug on October 30, 2006 |
