To love God and neighbor by working to eliminate poverty housing in the greater Garland area, and worldwide through Habitat for Humanity International, by building and renovating decent, affordable homes for hard-working, low-income families where they can live and grow into all that God intends.

Description:
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Garland, an ecumenical housing ministry, builds communities of hope, dignity and self-worth through the construction of quality, affordable housing and the nurture of decent safe neighborhoods, in partnership with families, volunteers and others.

History:
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Garland, Inc. began in 1993 and since then has renovated 46 homes and completed 21 new homes in Garland. Three new homes have been dedicated in the last year (Nov08-Oct09). As of October 2009, three new homes are in various stages of construction and there are two vacant lots for future homes.

Each year students in the Building Trades Program at Naaman Forest High School build the "shell" of a new Habitat home that we move to one of our lots. As of 2009, we have received five "schoolhouses" from this program and the sixth will be moved to our lot before Christmas.
