Fairhaven's goal is to provide safe and affordable housing for our seniors. Fairhaven cares about the over all well being of our senior population by providing three meals a day, and activities geared toward encouraging social bonds.
Description:
Fairhaven is a non-profit, independent living, retirement home for seniors that are 62 or older. Fairhaven is located in a quiet neighborhood with a wooded landscape and three outdoor decks. It has 47 rooms each with a garden view. Fairhaven maybe small in size but prides itself on staying true to the family atmosphere. At Fairhaven we provide three prepared meals daily, all bills paid including extended basic cable, 24 hour staff, a library complete with high speed Internet access, and work out facilities. We like to keep the personal touch of the community by using R.S.V.P. volunteers to assist the residents with rides and other services (entertainment, personal services, gardening, etc.). This helps the residents feel they are staying in touch with people and events in the community.
History:
Fairhaven was founded in the 1960's through the efforts of the Professional Woman's Club and Mrs. Myrtle Richardson to create and provide a safe and affordable living situation for Denton's seniors. They contracted renowned architect O'Neil Ford to build their vision and give Denton County its first retirement home, the doors opened in February 1965.
