Center For Healing And Hope
The mission of the Center for Healing and Hope is to provide access to affordable healthcare services through committed volunteers from church and community.
Description:
The Center for Healing and Hope operates a clinic to provide urgent care for persons who do not have health insurance. The clinic is staffed by volunteers and accepts donations to cover the costs. The clinic serves as a point of entry to the health care system for persons who do not have a primary care physician and assists patients and their families in finding a primary care physician elsewhere for ongoing health care.
History:
The original clinic was started at St. John's Catholic church in March of 1999 with one doctor and one nurse. The program grew and other churches in the greater Goshen community became involved. A board was established to govern the clinic. In 2002 a space was provided at The Window in Goshen where renovations were done to accomodate the clinic. In 2004 the Lighthouse Church, our current location, donated space for offices, exam rooms, a med room, nurse's station, and a patient waiting area. The clinic is currently open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evening. In 2005 Grace Lutheran church in Elkhart provided space for a clinic which is currently held Monday evening. Numerous congregations, church organizations, businesses and individuals provide regular support to help keep The Center for Healing and Hope operating.
