Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County is a non-profit organization working in partnership with God and people from all walks of life to build quality, sustainable, affordable housing in which people can live and grow into all the God intends.

Description:
Since becoming a Habitat affiliate in 1986, Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County has built more than 137 houses with low income families, becoming a true leader in addressing the issues of poverty housing. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat continues to build simple, decent, affordable houses with God’s people in need. Habitat for Humanity International is an ecumenical Christian ministry that welcomes to its work all people dedicated to the cause of eliminating poverty housing. Since its founding in Americus, GA, in 1976, Habitat has built more than 200,000 houses in nearly 100 countries, providing simple, decent and affordable shelter for more than 1 million people. History:
Elkhart County became a Habitat Affiliate July 14,

  1. A Board of Directors and a full-time
Executive Director lead the affiliate. In July of 1987
Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County, Inc.
received its 501(c)(3) status as a non profit
organization. The first Partner Family began construction on their home November 6, 1986 and moved in on May 7, 1987 after construction was completed.In 2006 Habitat completed its 113th house in Elkhart County. One house each was built in Millersburg and Bristol; two each in Wakarusa & Milford; three in
Middlebury, and Nappanee; thirty-three in Elkhart
and fifty-six in Goshen. These houses provide
decent shelter for over 500 people. Harrison Ridge, our seventy-four lot subdivision in Goshen opened in 2000. Habitat built thirty-three homes in Harrison Ridge through 2006.
