The Elkhart County Historical Museum fosters appreciation and preservation of local history and culture through exhibits, educational programs, and an accessible library and archives.
Description:
The Elkhart County Historical Museum has over 22,000 objects and 12 display rooms. It is housed in Elkhart County's first consolidated school and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum has a research library and the Elkhart County Genealogical Society is also housed in the building. The Elkhart County Historical Museum hosts many events throughout the year for children, families, and adults. They also offer tours and a Discovery Box program for educators and students. The museum is free and open to the public Tues-Sat 9:00-5:00.
