Description:
Junior Achievement programs and volunteers are offered to any school in Elkhart County (at no charge) in grades K-12. Our programs educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business and economics in order to improve the quality of their lives. Whether this translates into their personal financial literacy, or to open their own business someday, Junior Achievement is there to plant those seeds. As a volunteer and positive role model, your life experiences would be an asset in the classroom. Our office provides everything you'll need to complete the JA program---training and all materials!
History:
Founded in 1919 nationally, Junior Achievement came to Elkhart in 1958 by a visionary group of local businessmen and area companies. With our charter complete and our non-profit status drawn, we were poised to bring the real world to our kids. 14 youth were in our first after- school program and today we have over 3500 in 150 classrooms in Elkhart County. For over 50 years we have been producing more financially literate and inspired kids to help make Elkhart county stronger. Our programs and methods may have changed with the times, but our foundation of what we do and why we do it has not.
