Safe Kids Elkhart County

Safe Kids Worldwide is a global network of organizations whose mission is to prevent accidental childhood injury, a leading killer of children 14 and under. More than 450 coalitions in 16 countries bring together health and safety experts, educators, corporations, foundations, governments and volunteers to educate and protect families. Safe Kids Worldwide was founded in 1987 as the national SAFE KIDS Campaign, by Children's National Medical Center with support from Johnson & Johnson.

Safe Kids Elkhart County works to prevent accidental childhood injury, the leading killer of children 14 and under. Its members include Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, Goshen Police Department, Goshen Fire Department, Purdue Extension, INOVA Federal Credit Union, Norfolk Southern-Operation Lifesaver, Concord Township Fire Department, and community volunteers. Safe Kids Elkhart County is a member of Safe Kids Worldwide, a global network of organizations dedicated to preventing accidental injury. Safe Kids Elkhart County was founded in 1991 and is lead by the Elkhart County Health Department.

History:
Safe Kids Elkhart County was founded in 1991 and is lead by the Elkhart County Health Department. Since its inception, the coalition has helped families in Elkhart County receive education and safety devices to help parents and caregivers reduce the risks of accidental injury and death. The advisory board consists of community volunteers, agencies, and local businesses that are committed to saving the lives of children in Elkhart County.
