Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Volunteers are needed to assist in greeting all visitors and assist in directing them to their destination. A volunteer is also needed to assist in pulling files and making copies when clients check-in for food and/or financial assistance. Volunteers in the food pantry assist clients coming in for food to follow specific guidelines of the pantry. Volunteers often find themselves just offering a non-judgemental, listening ear and friendly presence. One volunteer of 5 years states, "I asked a client if this was her first time at CCS. She immediately burst into tears and nodded yes. Another client approached the woman to offer a hug and word of encouragement saying, "God will help you." How inspiring to have witnessed that person reaching out and offer encouragement to a stranger! I realize too, that at any moment I or many others could experience a crisis in our lives and find our selves in need of this type of help from our community." Volunteers greeters, pantry volunteers and front desk volunteers need to be able to commit to working 3 hr. shifts, either morning or afternoon. This can be once a week or once a month or as a substitute. The volunteer needs to be able to stand for as long as 3 hrs. if working in the pantry. We also ask that volunteers for the above jobs are 18 yrs. of age or older. This person needs to be comfortable working with the public in a warm and friendly manner. CCS has a need for bilingual volunteers as well. This opportunity is sponsored by: Church Community Services
