Mission: To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
Vision: Creating a world without Alzheimer's disease.

Description:
The face of Alzheimer's disease is changing. Alzheimer's Disease is a progressive and fatal brain disease. People are getting diagnosed as early as age 38. The impact of Alzheimer's on individuals, families and our health care system makes the disease one of our nation's greatest medical, social and economic challenges.
Alzheimer's is the sixth-leading cause of death. Every 70 seconds someone in the United States develops or is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. The number of Americans with Alzheimer's disease has more than doubled since 1980 and today there are more than 5.3 million people in our country impacted by Alzheimer's disease. Even more alarming are the growing numbers of Americans who will develop Alzheimer's disease in the coming years. Healthcare researchers predict that as our senior population ages and matures we will experience a near epidemic level surge in new cases of Alzheimer's disease in the next seven years.
We want people to open their eyes, voice their concern, and move toward a cure by becoming an advocate and volunteer. With the support of our communities, together, we can strengthen the fight and make important gains to protect Americans against Alzheimer's disease, giving families a reason to hope.

History:
The Alzheimer’s Association was established on July 1, 2002, when six independent Alzheimer’s Associations in Texas merged their resources to better respond to the existing and future needs of their collective client base. The decision to merge these offices was based on a desire to improve the scope and quality of services that could be focused in support of the Alzheimer’s families in the region while maximizing the modest resources of each office. The newly formed organization maintains service delivery offices situated in Amarillo, El Paso, Lubbock, Midland and San Antonio, Texas.
