Buena Vida Adult Day Centers provide secure and stimulating environments for elderly and disabled persons while providing respite, education, and information referral for family caregivers.

Description:
Buena Vida Adult Day Centers were the first adult day programs in Texas when they first began providing services in 1975. There are two centers serving El Paso, one on the East side at 9640 Montwood Dr., and another in the Lower Valley at 300 Riverside Dr. The centers provide a bundle of services designed to keep people optimally independent in community-based settings and out of nursing homes. The services also keep people from becoming isolated and at risk of becoming depressed. Family caregivers and adult foster providers are provided with respite services, informal family and individual counseling, caregiver education, and information and referral.

Family caregiver
training is offered at the Buena Vida-East Adult Day Center on the first Saturday of February, May, August and November from 9-11 AM.

History:
Lutheran Social Services of the South, Inc. began as an orphanage in New Orleans, LA in 1881. It is a comprehensive social service agency that serves children and families, elderly, and the poor in 33 cities across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.
