To eliminate diabetes and its complications for El Paso families and the contiguous communities through Empowerment, Promotion, Detection, and Access.
Description:
The EPDA provides management, support, and prevention services to all residents of El Paso regardless of sex, age, financial status, or citizenship status. We are here for the entire community. We make available diabetes related testing items and supplies for those in need. We host two camps every year. We conduct several management and prevention programs for children, adults, pregnant mothers, and seniors. Our focus is to improve the quality of life for those living with diabetes or prone to diabetes.
History:
The EPDA is a local and independent 501 (c) (3) nonprofit diabetes corporation serving the El Paso community since 1968. We have taken a leadership role in preventing and managing diabetes. We collaborate with several agencies to truly provide comprehensive care. We also provide services and training for healthcare providers. Many of our programs are provided at no charge to the community. Since 2007, we have become a major site for research as we have partnered with the National Institutes of Health.
