Our Vision is for all individuals within Williamsburg and James City County to have the skills and opportunities necessary to maintain economic self-sufficiency. Our Mission is to help individuals and families obtain the skills and find the opportunities that will move them toward self-reliance; to provide assistance when necessary; and to educate the public in Williamsburg and James City County about the causes and effects of, as well as the solutions to poverty.
Description:
WJCC Community Action Agency serves the community through the following progams and services: Youth programs include Head Start, Project Discovery, HOPE Tutorial Outreach Program, Green Team, Neighborhood Basketball League and Excel Program. Services include Legal Outreach Program, Weatherization & emergency Home Repair, Male Involvement Program, Feed the Need, and Cars for Work.
History:
The WJCC Community Action Agency founded in 1968 is a non-profit public-private community based organization that is locally managed and controlled by a volunteer Board of Directors for the purpose of reducing poverty and promoting self-sufficiency of the poor.
