Our mission is to assist adults in learning to read, speak English or prepare to take their GED exam, through on-on-one tutoring
Description:
The Literacy Coalition offers this program to adults who read at or below the seventh grade level.Using individual tutors as well as computer assisted instruction, we try to improve each individuals reading, writing, grammar, and spelling skills.
English as a Second Language (ESL) This service is offered to individuals from other countries who are learning to speak English and assimilate into our culture. We use a variety of methods to help such as individual tutors, conversation groups, and computer assisted instruction.
Pre-GED Test Preparation This program is for learners who are preparing to take their GED exam and are unable to use other services. We use individual tutors, small groups, and computer assisted instruction to help prepare adults for the exam.
ALL OF OUR THESE SERVICES ARE FREE!
History:
The Literacy Coalition is an affiliate member of ProLiteracy America and our programs have been accreditated by that organization. ProLiteracy America is the largest organization of volunteer literacy groups in the country. They are a result of a merger between Laubach Literacy Action and Literacy Volunteers of America.
