Description:
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Northwest matches school-aged children from primarily single-parent families to quality caring volunteers who will be positive supportive role models and friends -- on a one-to-one basis. The children are 6 - 14 years old from primarily low-income single parent families all over Kootenai County. Each little Brother or Sister is individually matched with and assigned to the "right" volunteer based on personality, location, similar interests, and backgrounds. The BBBS staff "supervise" this relationship on a regular basis while the friendship is forming and throughout the life of the match or until the child graduates from high school.

History:
Big Brothers Big Sisters has been providing quality mentoring relationships to children in the Inland Northwest for over 40 years. Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Idaho and Big Big Brothers Big Sisters of Spokane County Merged in 2004 to be Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Northwest. during the individual and combined histories of the organization the lives of over 10,000 children have been touched by the one to one mentoring services provided by the organization.
