To provide free, unbiased health insurance information, assistance and referral services to older persons.

Description:
The goal of the SHIBA office is to reach as many people as possible with unbiased information to Medicare beneficiaries and their families regarding Medicare insurance options. SHIBA trains volunteers to explain benefits and to educate Medicare beneficiaries about their rights and protections. SHIBA also trains volunteers to act as advocates for Medicare beneficiaries.

SHIBA also offers educational presentations to the community.

History:
SHIBA was initiated by the Idaho Department of Insurance in 1985 to enhance the lives of Idaho Medicare beneficiaries with education and advocacy.
