Logo

Community Action Partnership's mission is to serve the economically and socially disadvantaged by responding to their specific needs enabling them to become self-sufficient and to reach their full potential through individual, social and educational development.

Community Action Partnership's vision is our community working together to end poverty.
Community Action Partnership is a catalyst for building relationships that inspire and equip people to end poverty in our community.

Description:
Community Action Partnership seeks to be both a safety net and springboard for low income residents of Kootenai County. Basic needs (our safety net) services and programs include our food bank, energy assistance, telephone assistance and funding for basic needs services. Higher impact work (our "springboard" work) seeks to end poverty for families that demonstrate the capability of self sufficiency and a readiness to set and work toward attainment of short and long term goals. The community based Circles Initiative, for which we serve as lead organization, is emerging work that matches families with trained, intentional friends that build reciprocal relationships, providing support for the family leaving poverty.

History:
Community Action Agencies are nonprofit private and public organizations established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to fight America's War on Poverty. Community Action Agencies help people to help themselves in achieving self-sufficiency. Today there are approximately 1,000 Community Action Agencies serving the poor in every state as well as Puerto Rico and the Trust Territories.
