Disaster Search Dog Training
Volunteer Opportunity Details:
Idaho Disaster Dogs will host a training session to teach new volunteers how to work with and train Disaster Search Dogs. This training will include safety, rubble pile awareness, terminology used in training, training props and how to use them and how to work with the dogs. Once a volunteer is trained, volunteers are able to participate in most of the future canine trainings. We conduct the new volunteer trainings once we have at least 4-5 people interested. Volunteers must be in reasonable physical shape. Trainings can be physically demanding. The ability to navigate over obstacles, on slick surfaces and on rubble is essential. Must be comfortable in confined spaces as volunteer hiders are concealed. Training occur in all weather and hiders will get very dirty playing with the dogs. Hiders must have old clothes, sturdy boots and leather gloves. Helmets with be provided by the team. Anyone interested can come observe a training to see if this is something they wish to do. Please contact me, Jeff Sells 6403161 and I'll let you know when and where the next training will occur. This opportunity is sponsored by: Idaho Disaster Dogs
