Rocky Mountain Development Council Head Starts' vision is to create a leading child and family development center by working as partners with 21st century families to promote healthy life choices and to develop skills necessary for academic and social success.
Description:
RMDC Head Start is an exemplary education program with a deep-seated commitment to providing children and their families access to resources which develop their skills while fostering a life long appreciation of reading, education and learning. Head Start uses a comprehensive approach to child development, offering services in areas such as parent education and involvement, medical and dental health, social and emotional growth, cognitive development, gross and fine motor development and speech and language. All Head Start services are available to eligible children, and special services are available to those who need them.
History:
RMDC Head Start has served low-inome families since 1967. Our fifteen Head Start classrooms annually serve 248 children and their families in Lewis & Clark, Jefferson and Broadwater counties. Through the dedication of our staff, RMDC Head Start received a Certificate of Excellence in the spring of 2006 from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Administration of Children and Families, and Office of Head Start.
