Helena Area Habitat For Humanity
As a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization, Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat is founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety.
Description:
Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller and is based on the concept of "partnership housing" (those in need of adequate shelter work side by side with volunteers to build simple, decent and affordable houses). Since its origin Habitat International has built more than 250,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent and affordable shelter. While Habitat is an ecumenical Christian ministry, neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing families to receive a Habitat house. Habitat welcomes all people to help build simple, decent and affordable homes in partnership with those in need of adequate shelter.
History:
Helena Area Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Since 1992, HAHFH has provided housing for 28 partner families, giving 82 children in our community a decent and safe place to live and grow. HAHFH needs volunteer on the construction site, in the ReStore and at the administrative office.
