Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming
Mission: Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
Description:
Girl Scouts of the USA is the world’s pre-eminent organization dedicated solely to girls—all girls—where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.
History:
In 1912, Juliette Gordon Low founded Girl Scouts of the USA in Savannah, Georgia. She said, “I have something for the girls of Savannah, all America, and all the world, and we’re going to start it tonight.” With eighteen girls, the very first Girl Scout troop was formed.
Today, Girl Scouts of the USA is the world's pre-eminent organization dedicated solely to girls — all girls — where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, Girl Scouts cultivate their full individual potential. The qualities they develop in Girl Scouting — leadership, values, social conscience, and conviction about their own self-worth — serve them all their lives.
More than Ninety Five Years of Girl Scouting:
Founder Juliette Gordon Low organized the first Girl Scout troop on March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia.
