Change someone's life! Join our Disaster Action Team and help respond to small and large-scale disasters. Help families recover by giving them access to food, clothing, shelter provided by the American Red Cross of Montana. You can give them hope! Volunteers are on call to respond to local house fires, open shelters for evacuees, feed emergency response teams, etc. Licensed nurses, doctors and EMTs can also serve as Disaster Health Services volunteers and assist with meeting the health needs of disaster clients (help obtain lost medications, or equipment such as prescription glasses, dentures, canes, etc). They staff shelters and also help clients work with hospitals, pharmacies, and insurance companies after a disaster. Licensed mental health professionals may also serve as Disaster Mental Health volunteers and provide a range of services, from being a patient listener to another volunteer's concerns and frustrations, to working with local responders in providing for clients who have specific mental health needs or conditions.
Volunteers will be trained in disaster services. CPR and 1st Aid training are encouraged. This opportunity is sponsored by: American Red Cross Of Montana
