The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteer and guided by its congressional charter and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross movement, will provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Continue reading if you would like to learn more about the services and programs your local Red Cross provides: During Fiscal Year 2008 (July 1, 2007 – June 30, 2008) the following was provided: Armed Forces Emergency Services – 57 cases with 180 individuals served Armed Forces- Deployment Briefing - 900 persons were introduced to what the Red Cross can offer them. Disaster Relief Assistance – 33 families affecting 90 individuals, assisted during a time of disaster Disaster Training Courses – 138 people trained in how to respond and care for clients in a time of disaster. 13 of our local Chapter disaster volunteers spent 30 weeks collectively to provide disaster relief services for Wisconsin & Midwest flooding, California wildfires and other disasters. Community Disaster Preparedness/Fire Safety Presentations– 3,617 persons First Aid/CPR/AED classes – 4,355 persons Aquatics classes - 2,915 persons Babysitter Training - 157 youth Health screening and education services provided - 6,557 persons Educational Presentations on the risks of hypertension - 978 persons International program services presentation – 11 persons Nursing Home volunteer service hours – 908 Blood Services, units of blood collected – 664 units Red Cross Services were provided to 22,201 persons! Additionally, 19,558 educational information items related to fire safety, disaster preparedness, water safety, first aid/CPR and health and safety were distributed to persons in Marathon County. Additional educational materials related to health issues related to hypertension and diabetes were also distributed.
