What We Do
We are in the business of creating lasting change in people's lives--right here in Marathon County. United Way is bringing together people from across the county to study the data, set priorities and develop plans to address the concerns that matter most to you. We are committed to working with business, government, schools, and others to improve lives and build stronger communities. We know that it is important to find the underlying causes of issues like hunger, homelessness, abuse and more. While we will continue to take care of immediate needs, our goal is finding a way to prevent problems from happening in the first place. Because, that's how we will create lasting change in people's lives and in our community. Because that's what matters. How We Do It As stated in the Vision Statement, “ United Way of Marathon County is the leader that inspires and enables thousands of people and local agencies to work together to make a measurable difference in helping others in Marathon County .” As a locally directed organization United Way works to accomplish its vision by: assessing community needs, coordinating community resources, and strategically investing in human service programs that improve the quality of life throughout Marathon County . To best understand how United Way works you are encouraged to get involved as a volunteer. It really is your United Way working to make your community a better place to live. There are over 1000 people involved and many opportunities to share your expertise in fund raising, decision making, or helping with other office functions.
