Volunteers are needed to mentor first time, low-risk offenders through the Justice Volunteer Program at ATTIC Correctional Services. Volunteers will meet with clients 3-5 hours a month and provide encouragement and support to these individuals, as well as serve as a role-model. The volunteer will help to identify and address problems and concerns facing the client. Volunteer Eligibility Criteria: Volunteers must be:
- 21 years of age
- Marathon County Resident for a minimum of 6 months, and/or familiar with the Criminal Justice System
- If ever convicted of an offense, the volunteer must be free from supervision of the Department of Corrections for the past 3 years if successful, or 6 years if unsuccessful.
- Available 3-5 hours a month for volunteer services.
- Volunteer must present a stable lifestyle for the previous two years.
- Volunteer must be willing to sign and endorse the volunteer confidentiality and offender relationship policies.
- If recovering, volunteer must be in recovery for a minimum of two years.
A volunteer application is required. References will be contacted and a background check conducted.
