Children's Dental Health Services
Children’s Dental Heath Services (CDHS) provides preventative dental care and oral health education to under/uninsured children, ages 3-14 throughout Southeastern Minnesota. By providing services in schools, day care centers, and public health locations, we eliminate the economic and logistical barriers to receiving dental care faced by low-income families. Providing benefits that will last a lifetime, the importance of receiving preventative dental care and education at a young age can not be overstated. Effective brushing and flossing instruction will help to establish a child's good oral health habits at home and reduce long-term health care costs by preventing more serious dental disease later in life.
Description:

This location was chosen because CDHS Provides portable services at Head Start sites, schools and public health sites. Children's Dental Health Services will provide dental hygiene services that include dental cleanings, oral hygiene instructions, fluoride treatment, sealants (when applicable) dental assessments by a dental hygienist, and referral as needed.
History:
In late 2005, the current director of Children's Dental Health Services began the process of starting a nonprofit to serve under served children in regard to dental hygiene. The director has been a dental hygienist for 24 years and has a collaborative agreement with a local dentist to help serve this population. This agreement allows Children's Dental Health Services to operate specifically to care for the under served in our area
