Agency Details:
Northwest Arkansas Free Health Center
The Northwest Arkansas Free Health Center provides free or reduced fee medical and dental care to uninsured and indigent individuals, regardless of their ability to pay.
Description:
The clinic has general medical clinics, women’s clinics, dental clinics, physical therapy, diabetes and nutrition education, prescription services, an indigent drug program, and referrals. Individuals who don't have health insurance and whose household income is not more than 200% above the Federal Poverty Level are eligible for services at the Northwest Arkansas Free Health Center. Currently, the Center has limited hours, and each day, every third individual has to be turned away due to the lack of medical or dental services. Patients come from a very diverse group - from all age categories, genders, and ethnic backgrounds. Most of the clinic’s patients live in Washington County. It is the Center's goal to be open five days per week.
History:
The Northwest Arkansas Free Health Center was founded in 1986. It operates using volunteer physicians, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, technicians, and lay volunteers, coordinated by a small paid staff. A voluntary Board of Directors governs the Center.
