Single Parent Scholarship Fund Of Northwest Arkansas, Inc.
The mission of Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas is to help single parents become self sufficient through post secondary education. We do this by providing financial assistance to help pay for tuition, books, and/or related living expenses. Scholarship applications are received three times each year and scholarships are awarded for the Spring, Summer and Fall Semester. Students attend Northwest Arkansas Community College, the University of Arkansas, John Brown University and others.
Description:
To qualify for a Single Parent Scholarship, you must be: A resident of Carroll, Madison or Washington County, Arkansas. A low-income single parent with custody of one or more children under age 18. A high school or GED graduate. Pursuing a career-oriented course of study (full or part-time) to ensure a better standard of living for your family.
History:
Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas was established in 1984 as a response to a dramatic increase in the number of impoverished single parent families in our area. Each year Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas awards over $300,000 in scholarships to more than 100 scholarship recipients. Single Parent Scholarship Fund receives no government funding. Our scholarships are funded entirely by donations from individuals, local businesses, civic and community groups, churches, as well as foundations. Contributions from all segments of the local community are vital to our continued ability to provide scholarships to deserving single parents.
