Benton County 4-H
The mission of 4-H is to provide opportunities for youth to acquire knowledge, develop life skills, form attitudes, and practice behavior that will enable them to become self-directing, productive, and contributing members of society.
Description:
Our goal is to provide 4-H’ers with adult leaders, trained by county Cooperative Extension Service Faculty, to teach projects using the "learn -by-doing" method. Extension Faculty will also provide trainings, competitions, and educational trip opportunities for members. 4-H services include training in leadership, citizenship, and skills children will use through out their lives. There are 19 4-H clubs throughout Benton County. We offer youth ages 5-19 opportunities to gain life skills through project work and community service projects. We hold several project workshops throughout the year as well as competitive events. We are always in need of adult volunteers to work with clubs or members in various projects, also we are always looking for judges for our events.
History:
The 4-H program has been established in Benton County since the 1930’s however, the Benton County 4-H Foundation was founded during the 1960’s and has since received non-profit status. 4-H has a long history in Benton County with several 3rd generation 4-H members and leaders.
