Teen Action And Support Center

The Teen Action and Support Center (TASC) provides free and confidential services to youth who are in crisis or families of teenagers by addressing immediate needs and connecting students and families to resources and opportunities which will help them develop into responsible and productive community members.
WE BELIEVE
YOUNG PEOPLE ARE STRONG, INTELLIGENT, AND TALENTED IN UNIQUE AND INDIVIDUAL WAYS.
YOUNG PEOPLE CAN AND DO MAKE VALUABLE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THEIR COMMUNITIES AND SCHOOLS.
YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE THE ABILITY TO TAKE CONTROL OF THEIR FUTURE.

Description:
TASC provides education programs for parents of teenagers. We also provide education and mentoring for pregnant or parenting teens.

TASC offers a Community Service Learning Progam for teens who are interested in volunteering or who are required to provide service to the community.

TASC offers emotional health care to teenagers and their families through assessment and counseling.

Mary's Closet is a resource that TASC provides to be sure that teenagers have food, clothes, and basic necessities.

History:
The Teen Action and Support Center opened in Oct. of 2005 and continues to provide free support services to youth age 13-19 and their families.

Our programs provide services to 10-100 teenagers and their families.

In 2007
-we provided 6 workshops for parents of teens
-worked with 6 teenagers who were pregnant or parenting
-facilitated 850 hours of community service work by youth in our community
-worked with 12 area agencies to provide volunteer hours
-provided 4 car seats to teen mothers
-bought clothes and Christmas gifts for 20 teenagers
-provided mail boxes and resources for homeless teens
-helped 26 teens/families in crisis with counseling or referrals.
