Agency Details:
Humane Society Of North Iowa
The Humane Society of North Iowa is a non-profit organization that serves a nine county area in North Iowa. Our mission is to educate people about the humane treatment of companion animals. The heart of our mission is the operation of our Pet Adoption Center in Mason City. HSNI works to find loving homes for all animals in our care.
Description:
We recently opened a brand new 6600 square foot animal shelter on South Birch Drive in Mason City. This shelter has allowed us to double our animal capacity and provide better care for the animals that rely on our services. Last year we adopted out almost 400 animals into loving homes. In the last 20 years, we have adopted out almost 5000 animals.
History:
The Humane Society of North Iowa (HSNI) has been defending the rights of animals in North Iowa for over 40 years. We have been involved in rescuing animals in emergency situations and have assisted with investigations of animal cruelty and neglect. Last year, we assisted in a raid on a residence in Marble Rock, IA, where over 20 animals were confiscated from a person who was charged with hoarding animals. The Humane Society cared for these animals and, eventually, adopted them into loving homes.
