It is the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri to provide a mentor to every child who wants and needs one.
Description:
Big Brothers Big Sisters specializes in one to one mentoring relationships with children age 5-17. Children are interviewed and then matched with a screened volunteer who shares similar interests.
There are a number of ways to get involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters. In our Community Based program volunteers (Bigs) meet the child (Little) at the child's home and then they go and do things within the community. Like go to the movies for example. In our School Based program Bigs meet with a child at the child's school either during the school day or after school. Big Brothers Big Sisters provides activities for the matches which include financial literacy, health challenges, and crafts.
Big Brothers Big Sisters also has fundraising events for which you can volunteer. Bowl For Kids Sake is our biggest fundraiser. Teams of 5 compete to raise money and then enjoy a fun game of bowling with prizes given to the team who raises the most money.
