Community Mediation Center

The Community Mediation Center is a 501(c)3, not-for-profit, private organization providing free/low cost conflict resolution services to individuals and organizations of the Midlands. The mission of the Community Mediation Center is to help individuals and organizations resolve conflict, improve relationships, and strengthen communities.

Description:
The Community Mediation Program is designed for Interpersonal disputes among family members, friends, neighbors, and others in the community. Typical cases involve property damage, consumer complaints, and animal nuisance.

The Family Mediation Program provides low-cost mediation services relating to divorce, separation, and other family conflicts.

The Truancy Mediation Program allows parents, students, and school faculty to meet together to ensure that students stay in school.

The Group Facilitation Program is for multi-party or organizational issues.

Our Training Program provides various courses in conflict resolution, mediation, and communication skill building to organizations, groups, businesses, and the public.

The Quality Housing Program provides mediation and referral services for people who are experiencing difficulty making their monthly rent or mortgage payment. The goal of the program is to help individuals and families maintain stable housing during trying financial times.

The Workplace Mediation Program assists employees to settle disputes within a business or organization.

The Conflict Coaching Program offers four weekly sessions on anger management and productive communication. Many participants in this program are referred from Pre-Trial Intervention and other similar programs. We also accept self-referrals.

History:
In order to address community conflicts, an extensive grassroots coalition comprised of representatives of many neighborhood associations and various city, county, and state organizations incorporated the Community Mediation Center (CMC) as a non-profit organization in 1998.
