PAALS mission is to Enrich and empower children and adults with physical disabilities and social needs by training service animals and providing animal assisted educational and recreational activities

Description:
P.A.A.L.S. is a program created to train animals to assist people in South Carolina with disabilities (ex. Service dogs that can bring a person in a wheelchair a phone), with needs for communication skills (ex. using positive training skills as a model for at-risk individuals and /or individuals with autism and with social needs (ex. animal assisted recreational programs for youth at-risk, special, and/or developmentally on target).

History:
As a volunteer based group PAALS applied to become a provisional member of ADI (Assistance Dog International) in September of 2006. PAALS obtained their first group of puppies to begin training for assistance work in November of 2006 from Guiding Eyes Breeding Center in NY. The PAALS organization officially incorporated as a nonprofit in March of 2007.
