United Way of the Midlands 211 information hotline is looking for your help. Help the community by providing information about critical human service needs in our area, help people in their time of need, help in the time of an emergency.

A 211 volunteer is a part-time position in information and referral telephone center. Trained information and referral specialist provides staff coverage for call center. Specialist works with callers to identify needs and to provide information about appropriate resources and/or may advocate on behalf of individuals as appropriate. Specialist uses active listening skills and suicide prevention techniques as necessary to assist callers in crisis. Specialist also maintains accurate records regarding inquiries for assistance and referrals provided.

8 Hours a Month Volunteer Time
Interpersonal and oral communication skills.
Keyboarding skills
Ability to use common computer software.
