United Neighbors has served the Davenport Community for over 35 years through a myriad of programs and assistance tools.

Description:
United Neighbors is a community action agency assisting individuals and families with youth social development, housing and handicapped accessibility programs, and community organizing and crisis resource intervention programs. UNI provides many resources to the community which they can use to better sustain their quality of life. Our Programs include: Our After School Youth Social Development, Alternative In School Suspension, and Summer Parks Programs which keep children occupied year round with structured educational and recreational activities. Our Housing Programs provide quality rehabilitation, handicapped accessible modification and ramps for physically challenged Davenport residents. Our Dream Program keeps the Dream of home ownership alive and well through our home buyer education and DREAM down payment assistance program. UNI is also certified as a HUD Housing Counseling Agency and is working every day to help people stay in their homes during these rough economic times.

History:
United Neighbors grew out of the Central and Western Neighborhood Center into the multifaceted organization it is today. UNI was incorporated in 1980 and has added many social development programs for Davenport youth and their families. We serve in the capacity of the "Community Organizers" of Neighborhood watch groups and associations. Additionally we provide access to affordable housing through our lead-based paint reduction programs and handicapped accessibility programs. We also facilitate the DREAM Home Buyer Program that assists first time home owners with education and down payment and closing cost assistance for the participants.
