Baby Blanket Project

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on September 3, 2009

In August of 2008 Edgerton had a vision for every newborn delivered through our health care center go home with a new or handmade, keepsake blanket. Many of our babies are born into families with financial difficulties, and many may not get a new blanket. We believe all babies deserve to have a beautiful, new blanket to take home. We started requesting blankets in August 2008, and we have received many beautiful handmade quilts and knit, crochet and fleece tie blankets for our newborn babies. We want to continue providing these beautiful keepsake blankets to our newborns. With the help of caring volunteers, we can continue to send our babies home in blankets that they and their families will treasure for years to come. You will need to provide your own materials as this is a donation project. For those of you who quilt or make tie blankets, you will need to provide the material. For those who knit or crochet, you will need to provide your own yarn and needles. We do not have fabric available yet, due to funding. We do accept monetary donations to purchase yarn and materials. We also accept donations of new yarn and new fabric and fleece to provide to the baby blanket volunteers. The generosity of local knitters, crocheters, and quilters has been amazing!! If you or someone you know would like to donate new or make baby blankets, please call Amy, Outreach Coordinator, at 563-823-9254 for more information. Welcome to Edgerton Women's Health Center Blanket Volunteers.

Anyone who can make or provide new baby blankets, or can donate money towards the purchase of materials or provide new yarn or new fabric, is welcome and we appreciate your participation.
