To provide shelter for families who become homeless on an emergency basis - provide family case management services throughout their transitional period - and provide food to individuals and families throughout the Greater Clifton area through the food pantry program.
Description:
We provide residential shelter support for 3 families for a period of six (6) months and comprehensive case management services during their emergency transitional period. We provide food through our food pantry program to approximately 400 individuals on a monthly basis.
History:
In 1986, St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Clifton, NJ established St. Peter's Haven as a ministry to provide emergency and transitional housing for homeless families. The Haven also provides counseling and support services to help families keep from becoming homeless again. Since the beginning, the Have has assisted more than 85 families. We have two houses - one single family and a two family dwelling. We offer a comfortable refuge in home-like settings for families. We have case managers on staff who work in a comprehensive manner with our families - providing assistance with: working with TANF; Social Security; identifying vocational trainings; after school care for children; medical/dental and other appointments to ensure a positive quality of life. The pantry provides food products for hundreds of individuals and families each month. We have dedicated and trained volunteers who work the program 3 times per week and we also provide information and referral services to our program participants.
