Developmentally disabled adults seek companionship from community volunteers.

North Jersey Developmental Center's "People Who Need People" program provides friendship for clients who have no visitors and limited community contact. Clients greatly benefit from extra care and attention that a volunteer visitor provides. No special skills are necessary, although we can utilize special talents.

NORTH JERSEY DEVELOPMENTAL CENTER DIRECTIONS TO NORTH JERSEY DEVELOPMENTAL CENTER 169 MINNISINK ROAD – TOTOWA, NJ 07511 (973)256-1700 FROM THE EAST (East of West Paterson/Little Falls) VIA ROUTE 80 Route 80 West to Exit 55A Little Falls. After coming off highway, at the second light, make a right onto Furler Street (will be one long block). Take Furler Street to the end and make a right onto Minnisink Road. Travel about ½ mile on Minnisink Road, NJDC will be on your left. Take the third entrance on your left to the Administration Building. VIA ROUTE 46 Take Route 46 West into Totowa area. Watch for a shopping center on your right with a “TOYS-R-US” and a “BOB’S STORE”. Take the first right hand turn after these stores (you will see a sign for North Jersey Developmental Center on the highway and another for Minnisink Road – the right lane must exit). As you make the turn, stay to the right onto Minnisink Road. Travel about ½ mile on Minnisink Road, NJDC will be on your left. Take the third entrance on your left to the Administration Building. FROM THE WEST (West of Willowbrook Shopping Center) Route 80 East to Exit 54. At the end of the ramp, make a left onto Minnisink Road. Travel about ¼ mile on Minnisink Road, NJDC will be on your left. Take the third entrance on your left to the Administration Building. FROM SOUTH JERSEY Take the Turnpike to Garden State Parkway North. Take Exit 153B which leads onto Route 3 West. Take Route 3 West to Route 46 West CONTINUE WITH “FROM THE EAST VIA ROUTE 46” FROM THE NORTH Take the Garden State Parkway south to Exit 154 (marked Route 46 West). CONTINUE WITH “FROM THE EAST VIA ROUTE 46.”
