NALC Postal Food Drive Is May 12, 2007

Everyone can help with this event. The NALC (National Association of Letter Carriers) Postal Food Drive is on Saturday, May 12, 2007. Volunteers are needed to assist in sorting the food once it is picked up. Sorting will take place at CUMAC/ECHO Food Pantry on Ellison Street, Paterson. Individuals can ask their letter carriers to participate, we need everyone's support for the Postal Food Drive to be a success. Public awareness is needed to remind people to participate. The summer months are extremely difficult for food pantries because donors are busy with "vacations, etc." and don't realize that food pantries are hit the hardest during the summer months because schools are closed during July & August. Many families depend on the schools because many students qualify for "free or reduced" breakfast and lunch programs. There are approximately 50 food pantries in Passaic County, please help. Contact your local letter carrier and Postmaster, encourage them to participate. Our goal is to collect over 50,000 pounds of food this year. WE CAN DO IT, With your help!
