Hanley Center
The mission of Hanley Center is to give hope to individuals, families, and communities affected by alcoholism and drug addiction through high quality treatment, family support, and community prevention programs.
Description:
Hanley Center is well known and highly regarded for the effectiveness of the treatment and services it provides; for the quality of its relationships with the parents, families, friends, and communities it serves; for the contributions it makes to the advancement of scientific knowledge and the improvement of treatment outcomes; and for its contribution to the advancement and improved effectiveness of prevention efforts.
History:
In 1986 Jack and Mary Jane Hanley founded Hanley Center, a non-profit treatment center for alcohol and substance abuse. Jack was a past national chairman of the United Way, which donated the initial one million dollars toward the founding of the new institution. Since then, Hanley Center has grown from leasing 6 acres at St. Mary's Hospital to owning a campus of 13 acres. Current capacity is 82 beds with planned expansion to 136 beds. Treatment is gender specific, with separate programs for men and women aged 18 to 44. Hanley is also on the forefront in developing age-specific tracks for the "Boomer" generation, ages 45-63, and the Older Adult population, ages 64 and up. Hanley Center has recently formed a consortium with the University of Miami, Scripps, and the Palm Beach County Health Care District for a 5-year research project to track the effectiveness of different treatment protocols, the effect of hormones on recovery, and the impact of selected factors on relapse rates. The Center includes a Prevention Department, which is fully funded through contributions and grants. This allows Hanley Center to make available cost-free programs targeting issues for youth, parents, and older adults either at our Resource Center, or at schools, churches, and other locations within the community. Hanley Center is committed to remain a leader in treatment, education, prevention, and research relating to recovery.
