Feeding South Florida, a not-for-profit organization, empowers other South Florida not-for-profit organizations to feed needy people and improve their lives. We do this by providing food and other grocery products; and by educating and engaging our community to fight hunger and poverty.

Description:
We provide food and other grocery items to over 800 agencies in South Florida, including 125 agencies in Palm Beach County that provide feeding programs for the needy. Those agencies include soup kitchens that provide prepared meals for those in need; food pantries that distribute food for preparation elsewhere; daycare centers that provide meals to needy children; shelters for those who are homeless, abused or abandoned and residential facilities for the elderly, people struggling with addiction, suffering from AIDS and those with physical or mental handicapped. 43% of the recipients of food from Feeding South Florida are children, 12% are over 65 years old and 16% have physical or mental disabilities.

History:
Feeding South Florida was founded and opened the first warehouse distribution center in Miami in 1981. Our main warehouse and administrative offices are still located in Miami. The Palm Beach warehouse was opened in February of 1990 in a 22,000 square foot building, built in 1926, in downtown West Palm Beach. Today, we operate three centers (Miami, Palm Beach, Broward)and distribute over 22,000,000 pounds of food for the hungry in South Florida annually.
