Description:
Program Brochure http://www.pbchd.com/pdfs/volunteer_services/volunteer_services_brochure_2008.pdf The Volunteer Program is the division that accepts donations to be distributed to our clients in need and the center public benefit. Each health center strives to have a Volunteer Auxiliary. Members should meet at least one hour every month to work on special projects that go beyond the duties of the health center to meet the needs of its patients. Work with community groups & local businesses, sponsor fund-raising events to meet the non-budgeted needs of the medically indigent families served by the unit. Holiday food baskets, parties and the food pantry are several of the specific projects that center auxiliaries plan and organize with local community support.

Overall Experience

Extremely Rewarding

I read in the waiting room at several health departments. It is so rewarding to see the smiles on the faces of proud parents as I read with their children. It is nice to feel as though I have brightened someone's day in a small way and used a time that could have been stressful for the family to introduce them to the power of reading together. posted on November 5, 2009 |

Overall Experience

I am a PA who had the privilege of volunteering at the PBHD in Belle Glade for a short time. One thing which stood out was the kindness and concern of the HD volunteer staff. The staff returned my small bit of service with an immense amount of appreciation and gratitude. However, the best part of my experience was surely the patients themselves. The people form the Belle Glade community are among the most rewarding group of patients I have ever worked with!
