Our mission is to encourage children and families who reside in or visit Boynton Beach and surrounding communities to learn about themselves and the history of Palm Beach County through a stimulating array of hands-on and interactive exhibitions, programs, activities and special events which focus on the richness and diversity of the local cultural heritage.
History:
Constructed in 1913, the building that would become the Schoolhouse Children's Museum served as an elementary school until 1988. The building was restored and reopened in 2001 as a children's museum focused on local history. Now the Schoolhouse serves 40,000 visitors annually and offers a multitude of programs and activities in addition to the hands-on exhibits that make Florida's history come alive.
